Sakyamuni
Buddha
The Sakyamuni Buddha, seated on his lotus throne, surrounded
by lotuses, represents that moment when the buddha became
enlightened. His right hand points toward the Earth as
a witness to his divine awakening. His left hand holds
the begging bowl, common to all Buddhist monks, representing
the simple life of a beggar on the outside, while the
inner life is infinite, eternal, and ever-present in enlightened
consciousness.
